Drawing Koru

Pastel Koru Pictures

On Friday we began drawing Koru.  We started by watching a "Show Me" presentation on how to draw Koru.  Then we watched a timelapse video showing Koru growing.  We also looked on google images for pastel drawings by different artists.  In this slide show you can see what a great job the children are doing creating their own stunning Koru pictures.  They will soon be ready for display in the classroom.

Getting to know each other in Room 4

Welcome to Room 4's blog.

Smile everyone!

Welcome to our class blog.  We have had a really busy start to the year and have been spending a lot of time getting to know each other.  Our main focus this term is on developing our class routines as well as understanding Papanui Primary School's student goals (caring citizen, resilient learner, communicator and thinker).  We are doing a lot of work around how we put these goals into action throughout the day.

Here are the wonderful self portraits that Room 4 painted a couple of weeks ago.

And some of the photos of us painting our pictures.....

Have you visited the IXL maths website yet?  This is a great way for the children to practice their maths skills.  There are lots of fun activities to do that cover every area of maths and allow the children time to consolidate and build on their skills.  We have a month's free trial so have a look and enjoy having some conversations about maths with your child. The children's usernames and passwords are in their home link books.  Please let me know if you need a hand getting your account up and running.

We have also been enjoying the "Kupu o te wiki" videos on the Maori TV website.  Get your child to tell you about them.  They are proving to be a really effective way to add to our Te Reo vocab and some of them are very funny too!
